The calla lily is a very hardy plant.
It will stay fresh as a cut flower for a long time if you treat it right. A calla cut flower will need its long stem so a rather high vase to begin with will be a perfect start.
- Using a sharp knife, make a fresh cut of the stems
- Place the flowers in a clean container with about 2” of fresh water and a flower preservative
- Replace with fresh water and flower preservative as needed (every 2 to 3 days)
For optimum performance, recut the stems, on the diagonal every now and then. Try to handle the flowers as little as possible and think about placement; warm drafts from a TV or heating vent could ruin the callas in just a matter of hours.
Then… sit back and enjoy the beauty of CallaCo® cut flowers!
